Terms of service
The short version: it is free, it comes with no promises, and you may only use it on computers you are allowed to use.
Using DeskPair
DeskPair is free to use while it is in beta. You may install it on as many computers as you like, for work or otherwise. You may run your own signalling, relay and portal servers; the parts that make that possible are there deliberately.
What you may not use it for
Only connect to computers you own or have been given permission to use. DeskPair shows the person at the other end that a connection is happening and asks them for a password; do not work around that, and do not install DeskPair on somebody else's computer to reach it later without them knowing. Using it to reach a computer you have no right to reach is very likely a crime where you are, and it is a reason for us to close the account.
Do not use DeskPair to break the law, to attack other systems, or to get around somebody else's security. Do not resell access to our servers.
Accounts
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping its password to yourself. Tell us at [email protected] if you think somebody else has it. You can delete your account at any time from Delete your account; we may close one that is being used against these terms.
Beta, and what that means
DeskPair is early software. Features change, versions break compatibility with older ones, and servers go down for maintenance without notice. Do not make it the only way to reach something you cannot afford to lose access to.
No warranty
DeskPair is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of faults.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from using DeskPair, including lost work, lost data, or lost profit. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
If you run your own servers
Running your own portal, signalling or relay server makes you the operator of that service to the people who use it — including for their data and for the law where you are. These terms cover the software and the servers we run, not yours.
Changes
These terms may change as DeskPair does, and this date moves when they do. Last updated 21 September 2026.
